We shall not administer any non-prescription medications to a child without written, signed, and dated parental permission naming the medication and the dosage.

Illness Policy - Under no circumstances should you send your child to Lil’ Folk Farm if he/she has any contagious illness or is running a temperature. A sick child cannot do well in a group setting and it is difficult for the staff to give a sick child the extra attention he/she needs. We assume that any child who is sent to Lil’ Folk Farm is well enough to participate in our regular program including outdoor play. If a parent feels that his/her child is not well enough to participate in all activities, he/she must keep the child at home. Lil’ Folk Farm realizes that this may be a hardship for working parents, but we must think of the welfare of all the children. We will endeavor to use good judgment as well as the following criteria, when evaluating a child with illness.

  • An elevated temperature of 100 degrees or higher
  • Vomiting
  • Uncontrolled diarrhea or two or more loose stools
  • Unexplained rash
  • Discharge from eyes or ears
  • Highly contagious illness such as but not limited to strep throat, scarlet fever, chicken pox, impetigo, conjunctivitis, measles, mumps, viral infections etc.
  • Lice

Lil’ Folk Farm will follow our communicable disease chart as to when a child can return to Lil’ Folk Farm. A child must stay home for 24 hours if sent home vomiting or with fever. Most contagious illness requires 24 hours on prescription medication before being allowed to return.

Please keep in mind that these are only a guideline. If we feel that your child cannot fully participate in the program, you will be notified to pick up your child. We ask that you do so within one (1) hour of our request. Notices will be posted on bulletin boards outlining procedures to be followed in incidences of contagious disease.
